Shop: The Nautical interior accessories edit

I‘ve been noticing the blue interiors trend popping up on the high street.  Blue is traditionally used in a nautical scheme.  While I love the Nautical scheme, it’s execution is often not very sophisticated.  However, things seem to have changed, and I’m loving these well designed Nautical interior accessories that can very easily be incorporated into your space.  These are also the perfect gifts for upcoming Father’s day.

1. Teacup and saucer from Anthropologie’s From The Deep range.

I love how the octopus design is wrapped around the tea cup and the tea cup handle is one of it’s tentacles.  Very clever, perfect gift for yourself or someone whose slightly off the wall. (aka me). You can find them at Anthropologie, £18. Note, at the time of posting these weren’t available online, but the stores in London had quite a lot of stock, so call ahead to check stock availability if you are planning to buy them.

2. Whale Tail sculptures from West Elm

West Elm as always is right on trend and supplying nautical interior accessories that are well designed and budget friendly.  These whale tail sculptures are currently available in brass, and look great when stacked onto books, a shelf, or a coffee table.  Would look great on a bathroom shelf too.  Currently on sale at West Elm, was £34, now £19.95 – a bargain!

3. Sea Salt Candle from St Eval Candle Company

Inspiration comes from many places, and scent is such an influence in all our lives.  I love these Sea Salt candles, they really do smell just like the sea.  When I lived in South Africa, my home was always near the sea and I used to love that heavy salt scent that the ocean shared with us occasionally.  The St Eval Candle Company makes their candles in Cornwall and they come in these great big heavy pots.  St Eval Candle Company, from £9.90.

4. Geometric Design Throw from Zara Home

This versatile striking geometric throw can be used in the bedroom or living room to add colour to the space.  It’s a decent size, 170cm x 130cm, so will fall easily over you when lounging on the sofa.  The design is very striking and reminds me of those massive beach towels that we had as children that were ‘only for the beach’. These throws are available at Zara Home, £79.99.

5. Whale Sheets from West Elm

We’re back at West Elm. I bought the whale pillowcases and have them stacked next to navy linen pillows.  They look great and add a little bit of fun to the bedroom.  I liked the flat sheets too, they would be a welcome surprise when pulling back the duvet and revealing the whale pattern beneath. Get yours at West Elm, from £14. Note: do pay attention to the sizing of the pillow cases, I bought ‘king size’ pillow cases as I didn’t check the size, these are 102cm wide and not the standard width of 81cm, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

6. Navy Tripod Floor Lamp

These gorgeous Tripod Floor Lamps are from the wonder online retailer Made.com.  They lamps have a tripod structure with chrome detailing adding a great look and feel to your nautical theme. They are also adjustable, giving you the versatility to use them in multiple spaces.  Order yours at Made.com, £99.
